Sojdungs Gård, Fole Gotland

Sojdungs Gård is placed between Visby Ands Slite on the island of Gotland. The farm is owned by the Andersson family; Leif, his wife Anne-Marie, their son Tobias and their daughter Linda. Leifs parents baught the farm in 1964 and Leif was part-owner in 1968. In 1980 the whole farm was aquired by Leif and Anne-Marie. They now work full time in the company with another full time worker. Tobias is studying in Skara to become a Agro technician, starting in August. Linda is beginning her second year at the health care program in upper secondary school in Visby. Acreage being used today is 140 hectares of fields, 80 hectares of woods and 50 hectares of pastureland, with 20 hectares being leasehold land. Appart from that the farm has a co-operation with two other breeders on 255 hectare. The cultivation contains of grazing-ground, grain, peas, corn and mustard. It is currently being certified with "Svenskt Sigill" meaning the quality of it is being very good. Some parts of the domains is being cultivated ecologically. The mustard is being sold to Gudinge Produkter which is a neighbour to Sojdungs farm.



The animals

The animals consists of 350 Charolais cattles. Some of the animals is mixed races. Around 60 suckle cows is the base of the cattle and some semimanufactured cattles i bought in to become breeders. The feed consists of selfproduced feed, exept for salt, minerals and carrots from a neighbour. Consequently no imported protein feeds is being used. Storage and feed handling is being made at the farm. All the animals can walk outside all year around in semiopen buildings. The production is quality secured through Swedish Meat and Sveriges Bönders Miljöhusesyn. The Animals is being slaughtered in a facility in Visby approximatly 17 kilometres from the farm. The meat is being sold to Charolais Gotland HB, which Sojdungs is part-owners in. The meat is being marketed mainly in the Stockholm area under the brand Charolaiskvalitet Gotland alongside Stockholms Butikskött.

Other
The machines consists of 3 tractors, 1 load machine, one 15 feet combine harvester, field tools, sow machine, and grazin-ground machines. Hireing is being done for pressing and packing of silage in tube. The farm is self-supporting of electricity through part-ownership in 2 wind mills.

Sojdungs Gård became cattle producer of the year in Gotland in 2001. The farm has also being awarded with tripple A diploma 5 years in a row for highest creditworthy.
